Upcoming Sabbats at Laurelin
Beltaine - details below
Lughnasadh - Aug 4-8, details soon

Beltaine 2010

For the last dozen or so years we have hosted a Beltaine celebration at Laurelin.  We've had it in heatwaves and frosty weather, in drought and in 3 inches of snow.  However, this year the Laurelin events committee has decided to skip hosting a Beltaine festival in order to better focus on having an even more awesome Lughnasadh.

So....  we are recommending that people get their Beltaine fix at our neighboring Pagan community, A Sacred Place in Caanan, NH.  Several members of their community have been coming to Laurelin events and this year they are not hosting their annual games in August so that their folks can come to our Lughnasadh.  Our two communities are both so small (and only 40 miles apart) that it only makes sense that we start cooperating and supporting each other rather than running competing events

Turning The Wheel: Beltaine 2010

Turning The Wheel: Beltaine V, 2010 will be held on Memorial Day weekend – May 28-31, 2010.

Our Beltaine event has  been growing and getting better each year as word spreads.   So much so that we’ve created an Events Committee to handle it’s organization. We hope everyone who’s helped in the past will continue to add their awesome input!

So are you ready to frolic in the may morning and ring in the Summer season this year?

What is planned so far:

  • More traditional activities – flowers, frolicking, a May Queen (and King)
  • The main Beltain ritual and May Pole dancing, of course!
  • A Pot Luck Feast for Saturday evening – Please bring a dish to share
  • Stone Soup Ceilidh for Sunday evening – as with the pot luck, but more communally prepared!
  • A Concert by Celia – Check her out online  http://www.celiaonline.com/
  • A host of vendors – The Merchants Coordinator is Tchipakkan.  Contact her at merchants@aspcanaan.org if you’d like to sell your wares or services at this event.
  • More entertainers
  • Workshops and classes – Deb Jarvis is this year’s Activities Coordinator.  Contact her at activities@aspcanaan.org to schedule or inquire about classes and workshops.
  • Food Drive for a local soup kitchen.  Please bring one non-perishable food item if you can.
  • FUNd-raisers: We’ll be holding another assortment of raffles for charitable causes

Participants will be responsible for all other meals for the time they are here. We’ll let you know here if there will be food vendors attending if you wish to use that option.  We further request attendees provide their own feast gear (plates, silverware, cups) we’ll provide a washing station.

We’d LOVE for you to pre-register for this year’s Beltaine.  If you can’t, then please at least let us know you’re interested so we can have a rough idea of how many are coming.  There is an option to register as “Interest Only” if you can’t commit to a paid registration.

So how much is it to get in?  We at A Sacred Place are committed to keeping the entry to our events extremely reasonable.  Here’s the breakdown:

Under 12 is free.  You’ve got enough to handle.

One Day Only: $5foranyone 13 and older.

Full Weekend:Youth 13-17:$15
